I struggled with the idea of having bridesmaids, since it can feel exclusive or forced. You just cannot fit everyone you would like to in a coordinating dress and have them stand up with you at the altar. However, the hubby to be and I decided that we are going to have some traditional elements in our wedding. We are being married in a Catholic church, and something about the church just seems to go with having your closest friends standing up with us. Perhaps it makes me feel more comfortable in a place I am not accustomed to. Further, we've both been in the wedding parties for many of our friends, and wanted them to feel welcomed in ours. So, we decided to have a traditional wedding party (six on each side). However, I am foregoing the traditional "maid of honor," as that it just too much for me! I could not choose just one of my wonderful friends.
I promised myself and my bridesmaids that if I chose coordinating dresses, they would not be of poor quality, nor break the bank. Ideally, they would be able to wear them again (and actually want to wear them again!). Therefore, I was soo excited when I saw this dress go on sale at JCrew. It's the color I have been searching for! The color is called "Deep Persimmon."
I think these will look great, and my friends say that they love them. Hopefully they are not just saying that :) I am thinking of having light blue as the accent color. What do you think of the color combo?

Coral and Turquoise
My new idea is to use coral or burnt orange as my main colors, with turquoise blue accents. I love the brightness of this combo, and how it brings a coastal, summer feel.

Blue and Blush
Aqua is an amazing color, and flattering on many people. But, I also really like pink or magenta as a color for flowers and bridesmaid dresses. Are they compatible? Here is a palette I put together to experiment...

Cupcakes
One of my favorite things about wedding planning is deciding on our cake versus doing cupcakes. I have seen some beautiful cupcake displays lately, but I'm always looking for more creative ones. Here are some examples I really like...
